We take a number of steps to ensure the best possible safety during your tour.
Firstly, our tour staff are highly trusted and are well-trained. You’ll be hard-pressed to find more responsible or skilled boating crew in the region – we know these waters like the back of our hand.
We also have complete oversight of each boat in our fleet and adhere to strict maintenance and testing schedules to ensure their safe operation throughout. Weather conditions are continuously monitored, and we do not sail when conditions are determined unsafe by the Cozumel port authority.
Risks do nevertheless exist aboard any boat in open water, but we take all reasonable steps to mitigate these. Life vests are mandatory for all passengers, and we operate all our tours with multiple guides in the water alongside your group at all times (in addition to the crew that remain on the boat). In order to help assess whether you can participate safely in one of our tours, we also ask some capability questions prior to booking.
Every vessel is equipped with a comprehensive marine first aid kit, and our guides are fully trained in CPR and emergency water rescue. We have multiple boats in our fleet, and our captains are in constant contact with one another and the harbourmaster via radio, should assistance or communication be required at any time.
Your greatest risk on the tour is likely from the Caribbean sun! Ensure good UV protection at all times – we highly recommend a long-sleeve rash vest, sunglasses, and suitable (wind-resistant!) headwear.
